Our family records go back to my GGGrandfather,(B1843? D1914?)who was sent to St Mary RC Church in Liverpool by his stepmother. His education was paid for through a lawyer by (as we have been told) Earl of Ormonde. At a young age my GGGF (Thomas Edward Butler or Edward Thomas) ran away to Lowestoft, where he raised a family and was a marine on the boats there. When he retired from sea,he then worked for the railway. The reason that we ARE having trouble tracking his pass,is in my opinion, is where he ran away, he wanted to lose tries with his family, mainly his stepmother, which he did nicely.
