My earliest known ancestor is Thomas Butler, Sr. who lived in Frederick County, Virginia in the mid 1700s and was killed in an Indian raid on his home in 1763/64. I descend from his son, Joseph Butler , Sr. who lived in Monongalia Co., Virginia (now Preston Co., West Virginia) in 1782. He and his six sons (and some sons-in-law) moved to Coshocton & Knox Co., Ohio in the early 1800s. Thomas Butler, Jr., a brother of Joseph Butler, Sr. moved to an the Holmes/Wayne Co. area around the same time.
