Daniel Mangrum Butler was born September 22, 1832 in South Carolina and died October 17, 1901 in Anderson County, Texas. Daniel is buried in the East Hill cemetery in Palestine, TX. 1880 census shows him married to Martha Francis Jones, living in Palestine TX (Anderson Co.), and his parent’s birth places as: F--NC; M--SC. According to voter registration and poll tax data, Daniel moved to Anderson Co. in 1852 or 53. He married Martha Francis on Mar. 6 1860. He enlisted in the civil war Feb. 22, 1862. Mustered into 13th regiment Texas Mounted Volunteers. First child was Augustus, born – 1865 (my great grandfather). His children included: Augustus, Daniel Mangrum Jr., Mattie, Kate, Mabel, Willie J, C., and F.G.
